Administration Front Desk Receptionist

General Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Executive Secretary and/or Tribal Administrator, the Front Desk Receptionist will assist with clerical duties, practice professional telephone protocols, meet and greet members and general public to direct their needs to the proper departments.  Represent the Tribal Business and Tribal Council by practicing a professional attitude and appearance. Must maintain strict confidentiality. Make copies, send/receive fax correspondence, and scan documents; Operate office copy machine, telephone and mail equipment; must be computer literate.

Qualifications Include:

Must display excellent customer service skills, must maintain the confidentiality of all departments. Must possess high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate. Good verbal and written communications skills. Able to address general public requests in a professional manner. A willingness to learn job duties and take directives from tribal council and supervisors.

Two (2) Tribal Police Officers

General Responsibilities:

Under supervision, to perform law enforcement and crime prevention work; to enforce tribal regulations and ordinances, to preform investigative work; to control traffic flow and to do related work assigned.

Qualifications Include:

CA Post Certificate or Equivalent, US Citizen, High School Graduate, 21 Years old or older, Current valid Class C California Driver’s License, able to pass Extensive background investigation and drug test.

The Round Valley Indian Tribes are accepting applications for Tribal Police Officers. Two (2) positions.  Minimum eligibility. RVIT Child Care Aide for children ages 3-5

General Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Child Care Coordinator and the Early Childcare Education Director, The classroom Aide will provide support through classroom and playground supervision of children, prepare materials for learning activities, participate and guide children in learning activities, assist in provide a safe and sanitary environment for children and work with parents in reference to play children’s needs. Incumbent follows detailed instructions and procedures in accomplishing assignments.

Qualifications Include:

Six (6) units in Early Childhood Education and/or be willing to earn units while on the job.

Tribal Business Administrator, Tribal Operations

General Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Tribal Council, the Tribal Business Administrator plans, manages, and coordinates the day to day operations of the Tribal government under the general supervision of the Tribal Council.  The Tribal Business Administrator oversees the tribal businesses, supervises administrative staff, and implements tribal policies.  The Tribal Business Administrator serves as primary advisor to the Tribal Council.

Qualifications Include:

The ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries; to utilize professionalism and diplomacy with those who may be experiencing high degrees of stress; maintain confidentiality with tribal members, government operations, and staff; communicate effectively with tribal members and staff members from a variety of backgrounds (professional, technical, clerical, etc.); The ability to provide leadership by: Being a strategic visionary with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus; well-organized and self-directed, politically savvy, and a team player; an intelligent and articulate individual who can relate to people at all levels; and a decisive individual who possesses big picture perspective; and the ability to gather, assemble, and analyze facts, derive conclusions and devise solutions to management problems.

Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or Accounting with an emphasis in management. Master’s degree preferred; Minimum requirement of five (5) years in supervisory management with increasing administrative responsibilities; and

must be able to travel when necessary; Must possess a valid California Driver’s License, dependable vehicle and auto insurance; must pass pre-employment drug screening and agree to submit to random drug testing.

Tribal Police Chief

General Responsibilities:

Tribal Chief of Police is responsible for planning, developing, managing and directing the police department; Performs responsible professional, administrative and supervisory tasks in directing the operation and activities of the Round Valley Tribal Police Department. The Chief of Police is responsible for the preservation of peace within the community; protection of life and property; and enforcement of Tribal ordinances, state and federal law where applicable.

Qualifications Include:

Possession of either a Bureau Indian Affairs (“BIA”) Indian Police Academy (IPA) certificate or a state California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certificate or equivalent. Current valid California Class 3 drivers license. Possession of an Associate Arts degree from a accredited college or university or equivalent education, with major work in the administration of justice or public or business administration or a related field. Knowledge of current principles, practices and techniques of police administration, organizations and operation.

Knowledge of current laws and regulations pertaining to BIA special officers, federal jurisdiction within Indian Country, and Tribal criminal jurisdiction within a P.L. 280 state. Knowledge of crime prevention and law enforcement techniques including but not limited to investigation, identification, patrol, traffic control, juvenile delinquency control, record keeping, and care and custody of persons and property. Five (5) years of experience in law enforcement, including at least two (2) years in a responsible middle management capacity, preferably in a Tribal, country or municipal police department.

Be free of any emotional, mental or psychological condition that would adversely impact the ability to be a Police Officer as determined by a psychiatrist or psychologist licensed in the State of California employed by the Department. Be free of any medical condition that would be adversely impact the ability to perform the duties of a police officer as determined by a license physician or surgeon. Be of good moral character as determined by a background investigation.
